MDP has been developed to encourage focused development of our junior Managers in keeping with the increasing demand for greater specialisation in the financial services industry.
The MDP offers 3 main development and career streams:
Candidates can indicate their career preference at the application stage and it will be verified / confirmed based on the candidates' performance at the Assessment Centre. These Assessment Centres will be conducted on a quarterly basis.
Focusing on development, the Programme aims to provide trainees with wide exposure (via initial attachments to the business lines of between 6 to 9 months, followed by First Posting in the stream) and essential training support at the early stages of their career. The overall duration of the MDP is approximately 30 months.
Group Graduate Development Programme (GGDP) at Bricket Wood, UK will be arranged within the time frame of the First Posting. The GGDP comprises 2 phases:
Phase 1
Core induction programme
Phase 2
Training specifically designed to acquire the specific technical skills required by the respective business streams (PFS, OPP and CMB)
Upon return from GGDP, resume First Posting for another 12 months (or in some cases, move into a new role/Second Posting) - within which the 3-weeks of Regional Group Development Programme (RGDP) in Hong Kong will take place.
Bumiputera Graduates are encouraged to apply.
(Total duration: 30 months)
Induction Programme at HSBC Learning and Development Centre (3 weeks) - which comprise:
Attachments to the key areas of respective streams, i.e. PFS, CMB, OPP (6-9 months) (Please refer to Attachment Programme of respective stream)
First job posting in stream, i.e. PFS, CMB or OPP (15-18 months)
Group Graduate Development Centre (GGDP) at Bricket Wood, UK (4 weeks) - to be within the First job posting time frame.
Resume First/current posting in stream, or movement to Second posting either in same stream or (exceptionally) cross-functional transfer (15-18 months), within which the 3-weeks Regional Graduate Development Programme (RGDP) in Hong Kong will take place.
Online Tests
Good verbal and numerical reasoning skills are amongst some of the requirements for an Executive Trainee. As such, if shortlisted, you will be requested to complete online verbal & numerical reasoning tests as well as an Occupational Personality Questionnaire (OPQ). These should take about 20-30 minutes each and, because they are online, you can complete these tests at your own convenience.
HR Interview
Upon satisfactorily passing the tests, you will be invited to attend an interview with one of our HR Managers. Here, you will be preliminarily assessed on your communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to gauge if you will be able to proceed onto the Assessment Centre.
Assessment Centre
This is the final stage of the selection process. It lasts half a day and the selection panel comprises a HR Manager and 2 other assessors from the business functions. The Assessment Centre is not designed just to determine if you are the right candidate but also which business stream best suits you.
The Assessment Centres are conducted quarterly: March, June, September and December. In your application, please include a cover letter, detailing yourself, your objectives and reasons/motivations for this programme/position, and send it to recruitment@hsbc.com.my. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
* Please be advised that for 2009 intakes, the application window for the MDP is already finalized. The next opening window for application will be advised in future.
