Choosing The Right Career PathGain "hands-on" working experience, training, and real-world exposure as an Undergraduate in our Internship Programme.
It may just be the first step towards realising your career goals in an international financial institution and an opportunity for you to grow with one of the world's largest global banking group.
As part of our recruitment activities, we promote our undergraduate internship programme with selected local universities to promote the Bank as the preferred / choice employer for graduates. We hope to identify some potential talents among undergraduates in their final year who would be suitable candidates for our Management Development Programme.
Most of our local universities have in place structured internship programmes where they actively assist their undergraduates to secure places with various organizations for industrial training as this is one of the mandatory requirements to be conferred a degree. The interns are monitored closely by their Practical Training Coordinators/Counsellors to whom they need to submit a report upon completion of their internship.
An internship with HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad provides you an opportunity to gain ‘hands-on’ working experience, on-the-job training and exposure to realities of the working environment. Importantly, you will also learn more about your strengths and interests, and develop personally and professionally.
Duration of the programme is between 2 to 5 months, depending on the requirements of your course of study. Generally, the intake period is from end-MAR to end-AUG when most of the local universities have their longest semester breaks.
The programme also offers the undergraduate possibility of a place in our Management Development Programme after graduation.
As an intern, you will start off with a one-day induction programme given by our Training Centre, followed by practical training with the business stream to which you have been assigned. This can be Personal Financial Services, Commercial Banking, Operations Support, Information Technology or other support functions in the Head Office.
Regardless of the business stream that you are attached to, your internship will encompass a wide variety of roles and activities, give you an opportunity to experience different challenges, remove you from your comfort zone and put your capabilities to the test. Those who are considering a banking career can gain a real understanding of what our Management Development Programme can offer after graduation.
As part of the internship, you could have opportunities to be assigned to assist in short-term business-related projects whilst gaining knowledge about the banking business.
To qualify, you should be an undergraduate in your penultimate year of degree study (in any discipline), and predicted to graduate with Honours Degree or equivalent.

The main intake is between April to August as this is the longest semester break for most of the local universities. Information Technology undergraduates. Send us your resume to recruitment@hsbc.com.my
