HSBC Premier

Retiring in Malaysia

Introduction

The 2005-6 HSBC Future of Retirement Global Survey has surveyed around 21,000 persons aged 18 years and over in 20 countries and territories across five continents, and the total population of the countries and territories covered comprises almost 62 per cent of the world's population.

In addition, approximately 6,000 private sector employers in these same countries and territories have been surveyed. The aim of the of the survey has been to discover the attitudes of employers to older workers.

These interviews have focused on people and employers' attitudes to ageing and later life, looking at the family, the workplace and the role of government.

This report discusses the main findings for Malaysia. We have also published a report aimed at employers, "What employers want", a report aimed at a general audience, "What people want", an Executive Summary, which covers both documents, and country reports for the 19 other countries and territories included in the survey.
