What are HSBC's secure online payment services?

HSBC's secure online payment services offer Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode that provide you with a personal password for your HSBC's personal credit cards*, giving you added assurance that only you can use your HSBC's personal credit cards to make purchases over the internet.


* All HSBC's personal credit cards can enjoy the secure online payment services.

 

How do HSBC's secure online payment services work?

1. Register the secure online payment services with HSBC's personal credit cards by creating your password and personal message.

2. Shop online at participating merchants and pay with your HSBC's personal credit cards which you have registered* for the secure online payment services.

3.Verify that the authentication screen is genuine by checking that the personal message is the one you created at the time of registration. 4.Enter your password to authenticate the transaction and complete your online purchase.


* Any online purchases made with your HSBC's personal credit cards at Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode participating merchants will be declined if you have yet to registered the cards for HSBC's secure online payment services. However, so as not to cause you any inconvenience for purchases you may make before registration, HSBC will process your payment through a secure conditional authentication upon verification of your personal information. Your online purchases made with non-participating merchants will not be affected eventhough you do not register for HSBC's secure online payment services.

 

What are the benefits of using HSBC's secure online payment services?

Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode offer the added benefit of password protection to prevent the unauthorised use of your HSBC's credit card on the internet, giving you more confidence and peace of mind when you shop online.

 

Can I register my existing HSBC's personal credit card or will I need to apply for a new card to use

You do not need to apply for a new HSBC's personal credit card. You can register any of your existing personal Visa and MasterCard for HSBC's secure online payment services as long as your card is issued by HSBC.

 

Can I register more than one HSBC's Visa or MasterCard?

Yes, you can register all your HSBC's personal Visa and MasterCard.

 

Is there any charge for registration?

No, registration is free of charge.

 

If I lose a registered HSBC credit card, do I need to register the replacement card with SecurePay?

Yes, you will need to register the replacement card to be able to use HSBC's secure online payment services for that credit card.

 

When I renew my HSBC credit card, dol I need to re-register for SecurePay?

Your new card will have the same card number as your expired card. Therefore, there is no need to re-register for HSBC's secure online payment services.

 

How do I register either my HSBC's Visa or MasterCard for HSBC's secure online payment services?

1. You may register for the services at online@hsbc. Upon successful log in to online@hsbc, please select Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode under Services.

2. Create your own password for online payment authentication and your own personal message which will be used to verify that the authentication screen is genuine when you shop online.

3. After confirmation of your registration information, the Terms and Conditions for the services will be displayed for your acceptance to complete the registration process.

 

After I have registered, how long will it take for the SecurePay to become active?

Once you have registered, you will be able to use HSBC's secure online payment services right away at the participating online merchants.

 

What are the browser requirements for HSBC's secure online payment services?

When you register for either Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode, you will be asked to create a personal message: a Personal Assurance Message (PAM) or Personal Greeting respectively.
When you pay online, always look for your personal message to ensure that you're using the genuine HSBC's Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode.

 

What is a Personal Assurance Message (PAM)/ Personal Greeting?

When you register for either Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode, you will be asked to create a personal message: a Personal Assurance Message (PAM) or Personal Greeting respectively. When you pay online, always look for your personal message to ensure that you're using the genuine HSBC's Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode.

 

What is a Password and SecureCode?

When you register for either Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode, you will be asked to create a Password or SecureCode respectively. You are requested to enter your Password / SecureCode each time when you make an online purchase.

For security reasons, please do not use your names, birthdays, ATM/Phonebanking/Personal Internet Banking PINs and/or User IDs as your Password / SecureCode. Memorise your Password / SecureCode. Never write it down or reveal it to anyone.

 

If I have not registered, can I use HSBC's secure online payment services when I shop online?

If you have not yet registered for HSBC's secure online payment services, any online purchases made with participating merchants with your HSBC's personal credit cards will be declined as we won't be able to authenticate your card's secure payment identity. However, so as not to cause you any inconvenience for purchases you may make before registration, HSBC will process your payment through a secure conditional authentication upon verification of your personal information. Your online purchases made with non-participating merchants will not be affected eventhough you do not register for HSBC's secure online payment services.

 

What shops offer HSBC's secure online payment services?

You can shop online at any store that displays the Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode symbols. You can also look for the list of participating Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode online stores on the Visa website: http://www.visa-asia.com/verified and the MasterCard website: http://www.mastercard.com/securecd.

 

How will the online store know that I am a user of HSBC's secure online payment services?

Participating online stores will recognise the credit card number of your Visa or MasterCard from HSBC if you have registered it for HSBC's secure online payment services.

 

Will I be able to shop online at non-participating stores with my HSBC credit card?

You will be able to do so, albeit without the extra protection and security of the HSBC's secure online payment services.

 

What if I forget my password. Can I change it?

You may access online@hsbc and click "Update Registration Info" at Secure Online Payment section to reset your password.


You can change your password at any time. Passwords should contain six to eight letters and/or numbers (with no spaces or symbols in between), and must be different from your User ID and your old password. Please note that passwords are case sensitive.

 

If I have entered an incorrect password more than 3 times?

You will be prompted that at the next incorrect entry, the transaction will be declined and your profile will be locked-out. To unlock your profile, you may access online@hsbc and click "Update Registration Information" at Secure Online Payment Section. Upon succesful logon, you will be able to see your profile with the associated card number. Click "Unlock the selected profile". Your old password will be retained after profile is unlocked. If you have already forgotten your old password, please click "Change the password" to reset your password. You can immediately use your new password to purchase online at Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode participating merchants.

 

If I suspect someone has stolen my password or used it for a fraudulent purchase, what should I do?

You should immediately report it to our Customer Service Centre Hotline on (603) 2054 8800 or 1300-88-1727. Platinum/Premier cardholders can also call (603) 2054 9000 or 1800-88-7088 for assistance.
