What is Google WalletTM?
Google WalletTM gives you fast, secure access to your everyday essentials. Simply add your HSBC credit card and you can tap to pay everywhere contactless payments are accepted, in stores and online.
Why use Google WalletTM for your HSBC credit cards?
- Simple. Adding your HSBC credit card only takes a moment and then, you can immediately use your card via Google WalletTM. There is no need to present your physical HSBC credit card.
- Fast. Skip going through your physical wallet to look for your HSBC credit card and instead, find it in just a few taps.
- Secure. Your real card number(s) are encrypted and never shared with merchants or saved on your device. Opportunities for fraud are also reduced as a fingerprint, face or PIN is required to complete any transaction.
- Rewarding. On top of the above benefits, you can continue to enjoy the same rewards and privileges as you do with your physical HSBC credit card.
How to use Google Wallet
Adding your credit card to your Google Wallet is simple. Here's how to get started on your smartphone.
Step 1: Open your Google Wallet and add your credit card/-i details. Read and accept the mobile wallet terms and conditions.
Step 2: Select HSBC Malaysia Mobile Banking app as your card verification method. If this option isn’t available, contact us to complete your card verification.
If you’re a supplementary cardholder, the primary cardholder must approve the addition of the card to Google Wallet as well as verification of the card. The primary cardholder will need to call us to complete the verification. Once this is done, proceed to step 4.
Step 3: If you're a primary cardholder adding your card to your Google Wallet, you must log on to the HSBC Malaysia app using your biometrics or PIN. Select the credit card/-i you’d like to add to your Google Wallet.
Step 4: Once your credit card/-i has been verified and added to Google Wallet, you’ll see a green tick.
Compatible devices
Google WalletTM works on most AndroidTM devices running Android 9.0 or higher. Your device must have have Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities and Host Card Emulation (HCE) function.
Security tips and things you should know
- You will receive notifications once your devices have been successfully added to your Google Wallet. If you didn't request this, please call us immediately.
- Keep your device under your personal control at all times. Depending on the device, you may be able to turn off the Near Field Communication (NFC) function when you're not using your device. If you lose your device, please call the bank using the telephone number(s) provided on the back of your HSBC/HSBC Amanah credit card/-i as soon as possible to disable the token from your device.
- Don't allow others to unlock your device and don't store anyone else's fingerprint or biometric credentials in your device.
- Do not choose obvious numbers as your device passcode and remember to change it regularly.
- Remove the registered credit card/-i on Google Wallet before sending your device for maintenance, repair or selling it.
- Do not install or launch Google Wallet in a smartphone or device with any pirated, hacked, fake or unauthorised application(s) or where the software lockdown has been overridden (such as "jailbroken" or "rooted" smartphone or device).
- Make sure your HSBC/HSBC Amanah credit card /-i is activated before adding your card to Google Wallet.
